Expert Review

New Chic in Tablet Market

Spice, a Punjab based Telecom Company and a subsidiary of Idea Cellular Ltd, has now joined the race and has introduced its new seven inch Tablet, Spice Mi-720. The looks are not given more emphasis as it looks more similar to the most tablets available in the market. Wrapped with a seven inch capacitive touch screen along with three touch keys at the bottom for Home, Options and Back, the Mi-720 is not able to change the opinion a lot.

Going to the sides of the tablet, we find gaps for ports and slots for SIM card, microSD card, charger, 3.5 mm jack, micro USB port. Also, you will find power-cum-lock key and the volume rocker. Icing on the cake, the front facing camera is given space on the right side of the bezel. Best of all, the tablet is showered with a lot of color combination i.e. black, white and grey to entice you.

What can fascinate you!!

First of all, we will talk about the hardware of the Mi-720. This tablet is provided with a powerful 800 MHz S1 Snapdragon processor that travels along with a 200 GHz graphic processor and 2 GB RAM. With this, the device responds quickly to the given tasks and is able to toggle easily between running applications.

Spice Mi-720 avails you data connectivity with Wi-Fi and HSPA like connectivity features. If the issue is for how long you can use the tablet after charging then there is not much to think. Apart from this, the tablet comes with a 4200 mAh battery that can last for a day and half with continuous Wi-Fi.

For software, it lags behind and woks on Android 2.2 i.e. Froyo. No doubt, it offers a number of applications, but the thing that is lacking in the tablet-is not able to play 1080p or 720p videos. On its bright side, you will have the YouTube app and VUClip app for streaming videos. Also, you can use the 2.0-megapixel camera located at the back for taking pictures and videos, but on the contrary, the results are nothing. The video quality is also not much exciting. On the music front, there is a plain vanilla music player that offers impressively powerful sound through the loudspeakers. It offers impressive sound experience without any equalizer presets. Also, the Mi 720 is lacing with FM Radio.

Cons

The shiny bezel catches the fingerprints very easily; is prone to get smudged.

Verdict

All in all, it is a great tablet that exists in the affordable category. For other options, you can go for the Reliance 3G tab running on the latest Android 2.3 operating system and costing almost the same.
